Slow Food Atlanta is excited to announce its second annual "Slow Food at the Table" campaign created to inspire the Atlanta community to slow down and revive the deliberate practice of eating with others. The local chapter of Slow Food USA and Slow Food International promotes good, clean and fair food while striving to counteract fast food and fast life. The Atlanta organization works to prevent the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. 

From Sunday, February 1, through Tuesday, March 31, the “Slow Food at the Table” campaign symbolizes a collective call to action encouraging the act of planning any kind of meal with your friends, family and neighbors. There are no restrictions to the type of meal planned, but participants are encouraged to include seasonal menu items or products from local producers in the meal. Slow Food Atlanta will be posting several meal theme ideas and inspirational recipes on their website throughout the campaign. “Slow Food at the Table” hosts will receive a “Slow Food Lives Here” yard sign to showcase in the yard, on a window or front door that can be proudly displayed year round.

After meals are enjoyed, hosts will fill out an online form that will enter them to win the grand prize of two tickets to the 2015 Atlanta Food and Wine Festival taking place from May 28 to 31 in Midtown Atlanta. The form and photos from each “Slow Food at the Table” event will need to be submitted to Slow Food Atlanta no later than Friday, April 3, in order to be eligible to participate in the drawing. The winner will be chosen at random and will be announced in mid-April.
