Aspens Signature Steaks’ Rodney Strong Wine Dinner

Looking for ways to add more wine to your diet? Then consider venturing over to Aspens Signature Steaks West Cobb for its Rodney Strong, a noted California vineyard, Wine Dinner on March 21. Aspens’ sommelier Michael O’Connor will host the dinner.

Sample Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Rodney Strong Symmetry alongside dishes paired with some of the wines. The Pinot is paired with lamb, grilled flatbread, the Symmetry is served alongside steak, grilled asparagus, and the Zinfandel accompanies a flourless chocolate cake.

Davio’s Celebrates National Ravioli Day

Consider visiting Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse on March 20 to commemorate one of every food lovers’ favorite holidays: National Ravioli Day.

Davio’s will celebrate this day a three-course, specialty menu that features handmade ricotta-lemon ravioli with Parmigiano and San Marzano Pomodoro, fresh Maine lobster ravioli served with a basil cream sauce and chocolate ravioli for dessert.

The specialty menu is $45 per person and will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Davio’s regular menu also will be available. Reservations are recommended.

King of the Mountain Chef’s Challenge Provides Entertainment, Fine Dining

Consider venturing up to the beautiful Old Edwards Inn in North Carolina on March 17 to watch a chef’s competition and enjoy fine dining as well as live entertainment. Nosh on appetizers created by notable junior chefs, view a dessert demonstration, and get your photo taken with the chefs. The evening also includes an auction that benefits the Fragile Kids Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping families with medically fragile children. Items auctioned off include wine, art, a one-year subscription to Flavors magazine and special services.

The challenge itself consists of three cooking competitions. In each competition chefs will have 40 minutes to prepare a meal using three to five “mystery” ingredients revealed to them at the start of the competition. Judges will evaluate the chefs’ creations based on taste, use of ingredients, presentation and originality.  Flavors’ very own Managing Food Editor, Shelley Sawyer will provide colorful commentary throughout. The winner of the competitions will receive the title of King of the Mountain 2012.

Following the cooking challenges, attendees will dine on a four-course dinner while listening to live entertainment. After dinner, guests can enjoy dancing and live music. Tickets are $165 for stage seating and $135 for general seating and may be purchased at www.samcallproductions.com.

Fragile Kids Foundation Holds Annual “Let Us Entertain You” Celebration

The Fragile Kids Foundation is hosting its “Let Us Entertain You” fundraiser featuring dinner, dancing and entertainment in the Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium. The aquarium is serving dinner. Entertainment throughout the evening includes Torsades Band, comedian Trevor Williams, Ken Ford Children’s Symphony, and Atlanta Dance Lessons instructor Robert Frank.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the foundation. The Fragile Kids Foundation aids families in caring for their medically fragile children and provides rehabilitative and therapeutic equipment as well as support to improve the quality of life for families through wheelchair lifts and other items that are not covered by insurance.

The event starts at 7 p.m. VIP tickets are $250 per person and include pre-party cocktails, parking, a tour, reserved seating, a private, open bar, dinner buffet and a gift bag.  The general ticket is $125 per person and includes the dinner buffet and an open beer and wine bar.
