Local nonprofit’s signature event returns for the ninth year of cool confections
Slow Food Atlanta, the local chapter of an international nonprofit that celebrates good, clean and fair food, welcomes guests to cool down on Saturday, June 20, at its ninth annual Ice Cream Social from noon to 2 p.m. just after the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. The event will be located in Child Hall at the Cathedral of St. Philip.

A sweet summer tradition in the Atlanta community, the Ice Cream Social invites families, friends and supporters to grab a spoon and taste a variety of cool and creamy delights. Churned by renowned local chefs and ambitious amateurs, the homespun ice creams and sorbets will feature classic and creative flavors for guests to enjoy. This year’s participating restaurants include, but are not limited to:

After tasting the dozens of ice creams, market goers will cast a vote for their favorite flavor. A special category will be “Produce,” featuring ice cream with seasonal fruit and vegetable combinations bursting with the bright, lush flavors of summer. Winning flavors will be selected from Best Overall and Produce categories.

Tickets, which include a taste of each flavor and a ballot, are $15 for adults, $5 for children age five to 10 and free for children under five. The event is BYOS – guests are encouraged to bring their own spoon! Atlanta Locations of Popular Local Southwestern Restaurant Donate 10 Percent of Net Sales Every Wednesday in June

The Atlanta locations of the fast-casual southwestern restaurant is donating 10 percent of their net sales every Wednesday in June to Bert’s Big Adventure®, a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all expenses- paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Spring Tea at the The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead is in full swing! The elegant tea menu boasts classic seasonal delights that pair well with tea, including tea sandwiches such as smoked salmon with American caviar, cucumber dill with lemon ricotta cream, and prosciutto and melon canapé with orange marmalade; as well as pastries such as tea cakes, assorted miniature tea cookies and warm scones. Children’s teatime is also available and favorites including hot chocolate and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

Additionally, throughout the spring and summer on Saturdays and Sundays only, the Lobby Lounge is offering a “Signature Strawberry Service” featuring Grand Marnier-marinated strawberries served tableside with selections of sugars and whipped creams.

This Memorial Day Twin Peaks, the ultimate sports lodge known for its made-from-scratch kitchen, rugged atmosphere, and playful Twin Peaks Girls, will pay tribute to America’s troops by offering a free meal to former and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Twin Peaks is honored to welcome military members through its doors this Monday, May 25 and thank them for their service, patriotism and selflessness. All active and retired military members are invited to visit Twin Peaks for lunch or dinner this Memorial Day. Each service member will have the choice of a free entrée off of a special menu. Items from the menu include Twin Peaks favorites like the Twin Cheeseburger and Blackened Chicken Quesadillas.

“We are so thankful for the sacrifices our troops make every day for this country,” said Kristen Colby, Senior Director of Marketing at Twin Peaks. “We are happy to provide military members with a free meal this Memorial Day as a small token of our appreciation for all that they do.”
